An Evening Talk: Research, Creation and Collaboration in Indigenous Living Environments
Come join us for an evening talk held by researchers and Indigenous collaborators, organized as part of the Université de Montréal’s Triennale in research-creation.
April 24, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm / Admission: 4:30 pm
Carrefour des arts et des sciences
Pavillon Lionel-Groulx, 3150, rue Jean-Brillant , room C-3061, Montreal, H3T 1N8
The aim of this event is to present projects in which research efforts are used to develop creative projects in direct collaboration with indigenous communities. In so doing, this evening talk will demonstrate, by example, the richness of these approaches and their benefits for communities and the general public. Such a presentation is, in itself, a first objective, as these ways of doing research are still little detailed and discussed. What’s more, through this event, the team hopes to engage in dialogue around a variety of issues that this type of project raises: epistemological, ethical, narrative, artistic and institutional. This activity will take the form of an evening of screenings and discussions around four research-creation projects carried out with Quebec’s indigenous communities and organizations. The aim is to share various research-creation tools and results – a podcast, comic strips, a documentary and a narrative map – in order to spark debate on the potential of these creative approaches both as research (and data-gathering) tools and as tools for communicating and popularizing research. In particular, we wish to discuss the emergence of such initiatives aimed at collaboration and the co-construction of knowledge in intercultural contexts.
