Land Acknowledgement
The lands and waters on which we are in Tiohtià:ke – Mooniyang – Montréal, and those of the North where we work, have been, from time immemorial to the present day, the haut lieu of Indigenous languages, cultures, identities and wisdom, and living environments of encounters, exchanges and healing. We honor their First Peoples and we pay our respect to Innus, Naskapis, Eeyouch, Inuit, Anishinabeg, Atikamekw, Kanien’kehá:ka, Wendat, Abénaquis, Mi’gmaq, Wolastoqiyik, and their elders, as well as other nations who live on those lands and waters, and Nyikina Warrwa, Karajarri, Yawuru et Whadjuk with whom we collaborate in Western Australia.
This territorial recognition formula is inspired by those adopted by the Groupe de recherche interdisciplinaire sur les affirmations autochtones contemporaines (GRIAAC)/Centre interuniversitaire d’études et de recherches autochtones (CIÉRA-Mtl), the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Nulungu Research Institute (University of Notre Dame Australia).
